Let's be dotty - Learn to play Staccato!

Hi mini-musos and piano beginners

🐰We know your little ones like to have fun bouncing their fingers on the piano in a dotty, jumpy way. Believe it or not, this is an actual piano technique called 'Staccato.' It means to play the piano in a short, slightly detached way and is the opposite of playing smoothly. It gives music texture.

🎼 When we write music and we want certain notes to be played 'staccato' on the piano - we add a dot underneath the musical note.

🦜Download our Fun-Keys Funsheet to show you just what these notes look like and then watch Dotty our Woodpecker on the vid below to show you just how Staccato notes sound. See if you can play the notes along with Dotty!

Here is a little challenge.

? How many Staccato notes are on the Funsheet?

? How many notes are NOT Staccato?

😂 There's even a little music joke for you at the end of the vid!

Have fun
