So today Jay is helping us to learn about about chords and melodies. So let's start your right hand and play a melody. A melody is when you play the the notes of a piece of music separately. Now try to play the chord with your left hand like Jay does.

* MELODY: Jay is playing the notes of Mary had a Little Lamb using the notes - C, D and E. He plays one note after the other.

* CHORDS: Chords are two or more notes played at the same time. In this case of MHALL, Jay is playing two notes C and G and also C, E and G. If you play these notes, can you spot a pattern?

*LISTENING QUIZ - Listen to Jay play. What does he play first - is it a chord or a melody? - What is the next thing Jay plays, is it a chord or a melody? Now follow Jay and try to play them together. You can add some little tricks on on this to make it sound better. These are trills it makes the music sound cool. Keep practising so you too can play chords and a melody together. Go slow first and just learn one bar at a time.
